From Humble Beginnings
We understand small businesses, because we used to be one. From when we were a few dozen employees at a single store, we have never lost sight of what matters: YOU.
In 1990 we acquired a Mack dealership in Richmond, and in 1997 acquired the Freightliner franchise for Central Virginia, and consolidated the two in Chester, VA.
We opened a new full-service dealership in Weyers Cave, VA.
We opened a new full-service dealership in Chesapeake, VA.
Freightliner of Charlotte, NC was acquired in February, and in December we also acquired Freightliner of Columbia, SC.
We pioneered the Elite Support Program, setting the bar in customer service.
We expanded our North Carolina service with a new dealership in Statesville, NC.
We will expand our South Carolina service with a new dealership in Rock Hill, SC.
In the mid-1940s, Henry Rutrough opened Rutrough-Mack in Roanoke, VA
In 1981 Frank Ellett became President. In 1988 we were awarded the Freightliner franchise, prompting the name change to Virginia Truck Center.
